Hiking Backpack (Trail Daypack) · RANK 01

An alloy-steel frame and FreeFloat hip belt carry heavier winter loads that lighter suspended packs cannot; testers rate it 9/10 for comfort while flagging the 1.38kg weight as the honest trade-off.
$237 typical
This is one of the few daypacks whose 1.38 kg mass directly pays for an adjustable torso, true frame, FreeFloat load-bearing hip belt and suspended ventilation. Tests praise comfort and load hauling while explicitly penalising weight—an honest trade-off.
Explains the unusually competent hip transfer under a heavier day load.
The mass is spent on a durable chassis rather than superficial trim.
It is a handsome, conventional mountain-pack design with exceptionally usable stretch front pocket, bottle pockets and hip pockets. The articulated hip belt and torso adjustment make it unusually adaptable, but it looks and feels substantial.
The frame and high-substance materials favor multi-year use. Mesh back panels can snag more readily than foam panels; inspect it after abrasive brush travel and use the brand/retailer repair route locally.
