Fifteen pounds of FSC teak in a 1.5-inch edge-grain slab ranked second for both low knife dulling and quiet chopping among nine boards tested, at roughly a third the price of boutique blocks its size.
$140 typical
Fifteen pounds of FSC teak, a 1.5-inch build and a huge 432-square-inch surface explain the price. In a nine-board controlled test, model 107 ranked second for low knife dulling and chopping noise, resisted beet/chipotle stains and was the best overall. This is material volume and measured performance, not luxury-brand theater.
Teak's moderate hardness and natural oils balance knife comfort, moisture resistance and durability.
A substantial 1.5-inch edge-grain assembly provides mass and dimensional stability.
Warm, restrained grain and clean proportions make it display-worthy. Two full cutting faces and recessed hand grips are genuinely useful; the 24-by-18-inch size is superb in use but cumbersome in small sinks.
A 10–20+ year board with sensible care; scratches can be sanded and the surface re-oiled. Glue-line failure remains possible if soaked.
